雖然羅瑞在正規賽槍響時投進半場特大號追平三分球，但延長賽韋德獨拿7分主導戰局，助熱火102比96燒烤暴龍，東區季後賽次輪搶得頭香。
熱火和暴龍在季後賽首輪都是經過7場大戰後才順利過關，雙方都只休息1天即展開交手，熱火懷特塞德在最後3秒兩罰中一領先3分，留給暴龍一線生機，羅瑞在中場賭博式出手，沒想到球竟然奇蹟式破網，正規賽90比90平手。
延長賽，暴龍沒能延續手氣，3分36秒一分未得，反倒是熱火在韋德領軍下連得8分鎖定勝局。韋德全場攻下24分、6籃板，這是他在季後賽第160場比賽，與「大帥」張伯倫並列NBA史上第31人，生涯季後賽總得分3638分，超越名人堂成員、湖人名將貝勒3623分，排名NBA史上第16。
韋德拿下職業生涯季後賽第100勝，與雷艾倫並列NBA史上第21，與排名第20的塞爾提克傳奇球星哈夫利切克只有1場差距。
現役球員當中除了韋德外，季後賽百勝以上的還有馬刺三雄鄧肯（156勝）、帕克（130勝）、吉諾比利（126勝），騎士詹姆斯（120勝），以及甫退役的布萊恩（135勝）。
熱火總教練史波斯查表示，「很高興看到球員沒有因為羅瑞投進那顆三分球而喪失鬥志，反而打出精彩的延長賽，我為他們感到驕傲。」
